One Direction took to the stage in Foxwoods, Mashantucket for their first gig without band member Zayn Malik.

The lads are currently supporting US boyband Big Time Rush on their North American tour.

Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan all missed Zayn.
Malik had to return to the UK earlier this week after he received news that his auntie had passed away.

Styles revealed the news on twitter saying: “Zayn has suffered a loss in his family & has had to go home for a few days so won’t be at our next shows in the US.

“Our thoughts are with him and his family at this sad time.”

The rest of the boys carried on and performing in Connecticut as a foursome but the fans seem to have missed Malik.

One tweeted: “Zayn once felt he wasn’t part of One Direction, but it just isn’t the same with out him in America!”

Another wrote: “Seeing videos of the boys performing without Zayn, makes you realise that One Direction won’t be the same if one of them ever leaves.”

The band seem to feel the same and apparently refused to introduce themselves as One Direction on stage, because they are not a band without Zayn.

One fan revealed: “The boys introduced themselves as Niall, Harry, Louis and Liam instead of One Direction. Cause 1D isn’t 1D without Zayn.”
