One Direction Change U.K. Arena Tour Dates

Posted by: // Category: Tour

One Direction has been forced to reschedule some dates set for their highly-anticipated U.K. arena tour for next year due to scheduling conflicts. But fans of the band fear not … they have already been taken care of and revealed so you can adjust your plans for what is sure to be a tour to remember — and you can also pick up on their British English.

The hugely popular tour will see One Direction making stops at some of the biggest arenas the U.K. has to offer, including London’s O2 Arena, Manchester’s Arena, Liverpool’s Echo Arena, Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena and Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena.

Only four of the tour’s 34 dates had to be adjusted, including the shows originally set for March 24 (Newcastle Metro Arena), March 26 (Sheffield Arena), March 27 (Newcastle Metro Arena) and March 29 (Glasgow SECC).

The adorable blokes are currently on tour in the good old U.S. of A. with their pals Big Time Rush. The band will continue their current tour with the Nickelodeon-assembled pop rockers despite Zayn Malik’s abrupt (albeit temporary) exit. The group is slated to perform at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, as well as to host the network’s Saturday night lineup leading to Big Time Rush’s ‘Big Time Movie.’

To commemorate the occasion and pay tribute to their friends, One Direction recently covered a Big Time Rush track, as well as dished on British English — and even wished a certain other pop phenom a happy birthday. Tune in below to hear them sing and explain exactly what “knackered” means!

On Tour With One Direction

Posted by: // Category: Tour

A TEEN girl hides behind a rack of postcards in the hotel gift shop, peering between the pictures of local landmarks

Three others are in the gym, pretending to work out in jeans and heavy make-up.

Another is hiding at the end of the corridor, trying to disguise herself as a plant.

We’re in Albany, about 150 miles north of New York, and One Direction are surrounded.

They have just finished their show to 3,000 delirious girls at the nearby Palace Theatre and word of their overnight stay has got out on Twitter. Hundreds of fans have swarmed to the hotel.

Many mighty British bands have tried, and failed, to break America but Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson appear to have cracked it.

One Direction have been breaking records and hearts in equal measure on their first US tour.

Debut album Up All Night is tipped to go straight to No1 on the Billboard album chart later this month.

At a publicity appearance in Toronto, Canada, last week the management had to pull the plug halfway through an interview because of safety concerns.

The number of fans at their MuchMusic performance even dwarfed the last appearance from Canada’s own Justin Bieber.

There were 17,000 requests for tickets from 1D fans, compared with 4,000 when Bieber made his last homecoming appearance on Canada’s answer to MTV.

Just over a year ago 1D were third place on The X Factor, now the Brit band are toppling Bieber Fever in his own backyard.

Speaking from his 14th floor Albany hideout while working his way through autographing 3,000 pictures, teen heart-throb Harry said: “They had to close off the streets in Toronto, it was crazy.

“There were thousands of fans and one girl was being crushed against the barrier and looked like she was going to break her leg.

“Luckily our tour manager came to the rescue and dragged her out.

“To come over here and see that so many people know all the songs on an album that isn’t even out yet is unbelievable.

“Not many people get to do what we do in England, so for us to come over here and be able to perform to crowds like this is amazing and humbling.

“There is one girl who constantly messages us on Twitter. She has been at every hotel we have been to in America so far, trying to lure us on a night out.”

A giant network of besotted girls have made One Direction surprise global stars, using fan sites and social media.

At every gig the boys have been told by venue staff that they have never seen hysteria like it.

Their fans’ older relatives are even comparing the frenzy to the Beatlemania of 1964, when the Fab Four first arrived in the US.

One Direction will only play in seated arenas because of safety concerns and security teams have their work cut out keeping girls in their seats as they strive to get to the front and catch the boys’ eyes.

I see one teenager manage to brush her fingers against Zayn’s before dropping to her knees and sobbing.

After their show the lads sprinted straight out of side door in a bid to avoid stampeding girls.

But many still made it, throwing themselves in front of the lads’ van. Liam said: “We started in Chicago and had no idea what to expect. It was mad, there were girls everywhere holding signs and screaming our names.

“There’s one girl from LA who follows us and even flew to England to go to the tour there.

“Fans from all over the world are going to gigs and meeting up with fans from other countries they have met online.

“It’s really cute that they are making friends because of us.”

Zayn said: “We thought it could be the same few hundred people tweeting us over and over again. Until we got to America we didn’t know how crazy it was.”

Niall added: “I get really claustrophobic and sometimes it’s a bit scary. I rang my dad and told him how mad it’s been. He said he’s been watching it all on YouTube.”

The following morning most of the girls have dispersed, although a handful remain gathered outside, waiting for a glimpse of the band as they set off on a three-hour journey to the next venue, a 4,000-seat arena in Connecticut. Before the show Zayn had to fly home following a death in his family. But he will be back.

The band love the long journeys between venues on the plush tour bus. The hours are spent chatting, larking about and playing football video game FIFA. Harry and Louis fight it out to be top dog.

Louis said: “We love the bus — it’s like a sleepover vibe. We sit and play PlayStation and chat. I miss the food from home though, and I have to have my Yorkshire Tea with me.” The boys seem to have a fairly equal share of American female admirers — and one thing all the girls agree on is their love for their “cute” accents.

The story for all of the fans is similar. They found the band online, told friends, tweeted some more and now they’re hooked.

Among the girls in Albany are pals Jacqueline Secor and Karina Torres, both 15.

Jacqueline — who wrote her Twitter handle on her T-shirt hoping for a direct tweet — has been a fan since watching clips of the band’s UK X Factor performances online. She said: “I love that they are from a TV show so they’re not fake. They got where they are being themselves and singing live.”

At the Connecticut show Carly Galluzo, 16, from Long Island, said: “We love British accents. They are really cute and they are so good at singing.”

Her pal Devyn Fleischhacker, also 16, summed it up: “My friend Natalie told me about the band.

“I told all my friends and they told all their friends and now we are all obsessed.”

One Direction Tour Sells Out In 3 Minutes

Posted by: // Category: News, Tour

One Direction’s Australian tour sold out in just three minutes!

The boy band – who were formed by Simon Cowell on ‘The X Factor’ and are currently supporting Big Time Rush on their North American tour – sold an incredible 10,000 tickets for three shows between 9am and 9.03am in Australia today.

The group – Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik – will play two shows in Sydney on April 13 with a third concert in Melbourne on April 16.

Meanwhile, The Wanted have revealed they are not worried about competition from One Direction because the two groups have very different markets.

Both bands are currently enjoying huge success in America but Tom Parker told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘One Direction will build up a big teen market. But we want to push our music not our faces.

‘They’ll kill that teen market. I don’t really see my face on the front of a teen magazine if I’m totally honest. I’ve got a beard and I’ll probably have a beer in my hands. It’s not really a good look for a teen magazine.’

One Direction 2012 UK Arena Tour Ticket

Posted by: // Category: Tour

A total of 13 concert dates have been planned for the tour, including shows in Belfast, Birmingham, and Cardiff. The group, consisting of members who were rejected as solo contestants on the show, recently took home the BRIT Award for Best Single, beating out the stiff competition from Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, and Adele for the honor.

One Direction was formed during the seventh series run of X Factor and consists of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. Each of the men entered the competition as a solo artist, but were rejected. Panel judge Nicole Scherzinger, formerly of The Pussycat Dolls, suggested that the young men should come together as a group and be entered into the group category. The group placed third in the competition and was later signed to Simon Cowell’s Syko record label.

The band’s first single, “What Makes You Beautiful,” debuted in September 2011, followed by the single “Gotta Be You.” Their debut album, Up All Night, was released in November 2011 and became the fastest selling UK album of 2011. Up All Night features the songwriting talents of Ed Sheeran, along with pop star Kelly Clarkson. One Direction’s most recent single release, “One Thing,” was released in January 2012.

One Direction played a series of shows throughout the UK as an early part of their Up All Night tour. The group made a jaunt through the country, beginning in mid-December, and wrapping that leg of the tour up in late January.

They are expected to tour with popular American boy band, Big Time Rush, in March.

One Direction will kick off the UK leg of their 2013 tour at London’s O2 Arena, performing back-to-back shows on February 22nd and 23rd. They will take their show to Glasgow on February 26th, performing a single show at the SECC.

The band will continue their tour, making their third stop at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena for shows on March 1st and 2nd.

The group will perform in Belfast at the Odyssey on March 7th and 8th, followed by a stop at Manchester Arena on March 15th.

One Direction will take a day off before heading to Liverpool’s Echo Arena on March 17th and Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on March 17th. They will play at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena on March 20th and Birmingham’s LG Arena on March 22nd.

One Direction will conclude their 2013 UK tour in Newcastle on March 24th at the Metro Radio Arena.

Tickets for One Directions 2013 UK Arena tour go on sale Saturday, February 25th at 9 a.m.

One Direction And BRT Discuss Joint Tour

Posted by: // Category: Interview, Tour

‘Having already taped their “iCarly” appearance, the guys of One Direction will move another step closer to U.S. domination when they kick off their tour with Big Time Rush later this month.

The two boy bands will meet up for the joint trek on February 24, just 10 days after U.K. natives One Direction drop their Valentine’s Day-timed single, “What Makes You Beautiful,” here in the States. MTV News got some exclusive scoop about the two bands’ first meeting, which went down last weekend in the City of Angels.

“We met Big Time Rush for the first time last weekend on the set of their show in L.A. They are really great guys and could not have been more welcoming and supportive,” One Direction said in a statement to MTV News. “We also shared a lot of laughs! We can’t wait to hit the road with them in the U.S. and having never been to New York before, the Radio City show is one we are all incredibly excited about!”

BTR shared in 1D’s excitement about the forthcoming jaunt. “We’re excited to have One Direction come on tour with us in the U.S.,” BTR’s Carlos Pena Jr. added. “We are actually very similar on and off camera and we can’t wait to have some fun on the road.” (BTR officially kick off their tour on February 17, days before 1D are set to join them.)

This marks a busy time for both bands. One Direction’s debut album, Up All Night, drops March 13. Meanwhile BTR’s original TV movie, “Big Time Movie,” debuts on Nick on March 10. In it, the guys will cover classic Beatles tracks like “Help!,” “A Hard Day’s Night” and “We Can Work It Out,” as well as songs from their album Elevate.’
